March 18, 1931 - December 25, 2017

James WilkensDr. James Wilkins was born in the physical realm, March 18, 1931 in Grey County, Texas. He was “born again” in the spiritual realm on July 10, 1949, in Brentwood, California. He became the son of Vernon and Elsie Wilkins and received his nature and life through his first birth. Because his heavenly Father is eternal, he received God’s holy nature and life and will live eternally. Dr. Wilkins graduated to Heaven, Christmas morning, December 25, 2017 in Espanola, New Mexico.

Dr. James Wilkins was in full time ministry for more than 66 years. He was ordained and became a pastor at the age of 20.

Dr. Wilkins' mother attempted to abort him, but God overrode her effort. Upon her deathbed, she confessed her sin and praised the Lord for giving her baby life. Dr. Wilkins reasoned that since God gave him life, he would live that life totally for Him.

During his extended life he served as:
  • Pastor – Baptized over 1,800 people in his longest pastorate of twelve years;
  • Church Planter – Started thirteen new churches;
  • Evangelist – Thousands saved under his preaching;
  • Bible College Professor – Twenty-one years;
  • Author – Over seventy books and booklets, with millions in print;
  • Live Radio Talk Show Host – Twelve years;
  • Husband and Father – Bro. Wilkins outlived two wives, Louella and Penny. Father of five children with eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; One of five brothers in ministry – A combined 230+ years of scandal-free ministry;
  • Active conference preacher, personal soul winner and member of Valley Baptist Church in Espanola, New Mexico, pastored by Dr. Brian McMath;
  • Founder of New Testament Ministries – a ministry that preaches and teaches Soul Winning, Discipleship, Faith Promise Missions as well as publishing numerous books on topics ranging from Cults to Soul Winning, Discipleship, Eternity, the Tribulation, Millennial Reign, major religions and so much more.

Only One Life Twill Soon Be Past by C.T. Studd

Two little lines I heard one day,
Traveling along life’s busy way;
Bringing conviction to my heart,
And from my mind would not depart;
Only one life, twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Only one life, yes only one,
Soon will its fleeting hours be done;
Then, in ‘that day’ my Lord to meet,
And stand before His Judgment seat;
Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Only one life, a few brief years,
Each with its burdens, hopes, and fears;
Each with its clays I must fulfill,
living for self or in His will;
Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

When this bright world would tempt me sore,
When Satan would a victory score;
When self would seek to have its way,
Then help me Lord with joy to say;
Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Give me Father, a purpose deep,
In joy or sorrow Thy word to keep;
Faithful and true what e’er the strife,
Pleasing Thee in my daily life;
Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Oh, let my love with fervor burn,
And from the world now let me turn;
Living for Thee, and Thee alone,
Bringing Thee pleasure on Thy throne;
Only one life, 'twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Only one life, yes only one,
Now let me say, ”Thy will be done”;
And when at last I’ll hear the call,
I know I’ll say “twas worth it all”;
Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.

Only what’s done for Christ will last.
And when I am dying, how happy I’ll be,
If the lamp of my life has been burned out for Thee
Only one life, ’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.
